SELF Check Out at Planthouse

A collaborative two person show with artist Nadja Frank

Press Release Written by Christopher Stackhouse and a mention in the NY Times magazine blog

Nadja Frank and I collaborated on “Lost in Reality”, Silkscreen and letterpress on three different kinds of paper, 2015 (print shown here that depicts a hand and cell phone) that was published by Marginal Editions.

We also collaborated on a 50 ft. wall painting that existed as a backdrop for the show. Below are images of my contributions to the show.

"Half Story Mountain" (Brooklyn Bridge Park)

Fiberglass sculpture created digitally with the help of Scott Leinweber and Chris Benfield that features the Le Courbusier LC4 (Chaise Longue). The sculpture is meant to depict a human-to-nature interface in which humans are cradled by nature in modernist furniture. It is also loosely modeled after Michelangelo’s Pietà in reverse.

Commissioned by Two Trees Realty for Brooklyn Bridge Park. Located next to the Brooklyn Bridge near the East River. Special Thanks to Lisa Kim

"SPEECHBUSTER"

A collaboration by Jimenez Lai and Grayson Cox commissioned by Storefront for Art and Architecture.

Made possible by The Robert Rauschenberg Foundation’s 2013 Artistic Innovation and Collaboration (AIC) Grant

This sculpture operates as a furniture object and performative space.

"Pension Arch 2012"

Wood and various materials contained within sculpture (unknown until purchase)

A project created in collaboration with 8 artists that were in residency in the A.I.R. program at the Center for Contemporary Art in Warsaw, Poland. The piece is currently in the collection of the CCA in Warsaw, Poland. The sculpture operates as a crate for 8 different art works that are to be sold in 2022 (or evaluated for a group decision to sell or continue to collect cultural capital) with the hopes of all of us splitting the financial capital equally.  This is meant to work like a workers pension of sorts. * Note: This piece cannot be opened until it’s purchase.
